A couple of questions for the Brits
Okay, I am back to Dulce, and in this next chapter, I mention the 1997 General Election. I'd like to have Cedric say Scrimgeour is getting him into some after party in order to size-up the people around Blair and see if Cedric thinks any of them might be under an Imperius Curse, but I need to be sure there actually IS such a celebration party. I've looked up some information on the Wiki and other places for details like dates, etc., but I can't find this sort of stuff. I think it's what you "know" from living through it. *grin* Here in the states, both the Republicans and Democrats have parties at headquarters around the country, but especially wherever the candidates are staying waiting to hear the results. But I know in the UK it's parties voted on, not candidates (even if everybody knows who the leader will be), and I'm not sure what sort of celebrations you have. But I assume Blair and company would have celebrated *somewhere* -- London, I'm guessing? Can anybody tell me where he was when the landslide results came in?

Edit: Just found a picture that might tell where he was. "The Royal Festival Hall" -- is that right?

I had a dream that I was able to walk on my forearms and then roll up gymnastically onto my hands. I was performing this trick absently, for my own amusement, across the (surprisingly clean and smooth) stones of a piazza in Venice, and Justin Timberlake saw me and thought I was awesome.

It really is All JB's fault.
Which is tragic, since I think I"ve outpaced her attention span with this damn thing.

Anyway, the massive DCXNaruto crackfic is offically HERE.

And it's sister work, the massive MARVELXNaruto crackfic is offically HERE. It may need a better name. it certainlly needs a better synopisis, but when I went to write it my brain started to spit out HuckFinn at me-

"You won't have hard of me less you read a book called 'Tom Sawyer' by,"

And now that I think of that, I may use it except I don't know how many people would get that joke and when your mixing manga and comics anyway there's a lot of great jokes that people probably won't get.

Watching the Democrats fumbling with the healthcare reform in Congress reminds me of one of my favorite political quotes. "They have learned nothing and forgotten nothing."

I haven't seen a more thorough campaign of self-sabotage since I tried to join the Foreign Legion.

Returned
I am now returned from Summer Trip 3. It is in contention for being the worst vacation ever, on account of:

1) 3 out of 5 vacation days being spent in a motel watching TV and waiting for intestines to work properly

2) having Enterprise Car Rental try to give me a van instead of a car on the make-up day for trips to the mountains

3) being too ambitious on make-up day, finding myself arriving at the car dealership late (11:47) and also after the bus to the B&B had gone, only to find that the bus was late and I could have caught it

4) being too ambitious on the Denver City Day and running out of time in the Denver Museum of Art (very good) and then missing the bus and having to take a taxi to the airport on account of my watch being wrong (US 65 vs US 8 in fares)

5) encountering nightmare problems with local transit for the uncarred (all taxis in a city the size of Metro Toronto sent out from dispatching centres downtown, hence my taking a taxi to the airport to avoid any consequences of transit plan failures which would be unfixable by taxi; also, having to return the car on make-up day within a fixed time window so that I could get the hourly bus to the B&B without spending too much time in very sketchy nbd)

6) discovering that my cheap and very nicely renovated hotel on Denver City Day was in the middle of the second worst zone for pushers and prostitutes in central Denver (although this was only a problem at night and could be avoided by use of convenient transit options)

7) eating at the wrong restaurant in Denver airport

8) not planning ahead so I didn't have to eat in Denver airport

9) having had to deal with the Consequences of not having consumed enough water

Much of this was made up for by the spectacular scenery in the mountains, the very good architecture, and the great museums, pubs, and bookhunting opportunities in Denver. Still, there are regrets that more could not be seen and experienced.

Hi guys, I come to you with a request which appears remarkably simple at first glance, but needs to be properly considered:

Do any good Shippuuden AMVs actually exist? And if they do, can you rec them to me? XD

You see, I've spent some time now trying to actually locate one but they all seem to be the same sort of thing, a bit of music with random clips throw to it. I'd love to see some with a bit more thought and meaning put into them!

Here's hoping there's some out there, I've had a craving for some good ones for a while now!

So I have four drabble-not-really-drabble things for you guys. :D They're all for my claim over at

au100 (which no, I have not posted to v_v). Kinda old; only just got put up more or less because I'm cleaning out my g!docs. And they're all work safe, no smut~. Language obvs, because it's these two, but that's it. :3 Also, all AU since it's, you know, an AU challenge, but each ficlet is a universe in its own. No continuity, sorry!

Yummy light summer cous-cous pilaf (non-vegan & vegan)
New recipe I must share -- vegan and non-vegan version. FAST and tasty.

2 c. cous-cous
2 c. chicken broth (or water, for vegan)
1/2 c. finely chopped zuccini
1/2 c. finely chopped red or yellow pepper
1/2 c. peas OR corn
1 c. finely chopped sweet onion
1 tbsp. garlic
1 tsp. dill
1 tsp. tarragon
1/2 tsp each salt & pepper
olive oil as needed
c. 1 cup chopped chicken (remove for vegan)

Chop the chicken till you have about 1 c. *cooked* (so about a cup and a half raw or c. .75 lb). Cook in olive oil, drain and set aside. (Omit for vegan version)

Saute the garlic in more olive oil, add onions, tarragon and dill + salt/pepper, then add the rest of the veggies. Saute while you get the cous-cous ready.

Bring 2 c. chicken broth (or 2 c. water for vegan version) to a boil. Stir in the cous-cous. Set aside for a few minutes. Fluff so it doesn't stick and add about 1-2 tbsp olive oil (also to prevent sticking).

I use the low-salt version of the chicken broth, btw.

When the veggies are ready, stir in the cooked chicken (or, again, omit for vegan). Make sure the chicken is heated through, then add the whole thing to the cous-cous mix and stir well.

Wholah! Dinner!

Those Last Minute Chores
Today I discovered that pull on half-boots have apparently gone out of style. Also, if you use a cane while limping through the mall, everything hustles out of your path and people even apologize if you stumble into them. Weird.

Earlier, I pulled a short day at work double-casing. This involves just standing, especially if other carriers bring you all the mail because they know you are temporary crippled by stupidity.

At least everything has been packed and arranged so I can drive off dark and early tomorrow toward Memphis, I think. Whatever hotel address is on the top sheet, anyway.
