Hey, guys! I'm putting up a stickypost for those people heading over here for fic. :)

Original work
Support your author! Pretty shiny novels abound here! If you've liked what you've read, take a second to peer over my novels. I'd greatly appreciate it!

The Big Fandom Indexes:
(The newer ones are at the bottom.)

McDragon's Lair. (Marvel fic index)
(Except for: Surprise, a Ric/Shatterstar fic and The Real McCoy, Gen, movieverse, Jamie Maddrox.)

DC fic index

Naruto fic index

Star Trek: Reboot fic index

Leverage fic index

Avengers fic index

Fandoms I only wrote a couple of stories for:

The Curse of the Apple Pie
Gen, 500 words. Written on a prompt.

All archives have both my own and others' stories. Sadly, they've all been closed.

Naruto: Hidden Village.

Jamie Maddrox: Seeing Double

Other stuff I think you should see:

My An Archive Of Our Own page (AO3)
List o' Leverage fic recs
List o' Star Trek: Reboot fic recs
All recs ever
Delicious links
I would like to say I keep all my awesome recs I've found in one place... but I don't. At all. They're scattered throughout those links, rarely duplicated. Organization's not my strong suit.

Have fun!

*edit: It would help if I forward-set the date. >.> *grins*

Hey, this is off-topic, but I posted something today, and I could use your opinion if you have a minute. I kind of am wondering if the reaction I'm having to something is kind of what you go through and how you deal with it. (I think you're more prone to it than I am, but I think I might be having a lesser version of the same experience.)

Now after that cryptic comment, how can you NOT come read, J? ;)

The Kakashi Mission
Hi there,

this is a bit out of the blue. I'm a huge fan of your fiction (you probably hear that a lot) and I think the story that impressed me the most is "The Kakashi Mission". I don't know how many times I've reread it. It's always as fascinating as the first time. I could go on a long time pointing out what I like about it. The mix of humour, angst, plot, great characterisations, the staying within canon etc. The thing is I've started translating it into German and I'm serioulsy considering uploading the translation to a German fanfiction site (www.fanfiktion.de). But I would never do that without your permission. It's your story. So my question is, would you grant me your permission, and/or would you like to have the translation? I've completed the prologue and the first 2 chapters. At the moment I'm working on ch. 3. I will keep translating and finishing it. Because translating is fun, a wonderful way to get even deeper into the story and notice things you haven't before. But without your permission I won't upload or spread it anywhere.

So, pretty please?

Re: Hi
Hey, Mini! Okay, it's up! Sorry that took so long. :P The good news is, you won't need to have anything cleared again before putting it on the 'Village. :)

I was already a fan of your Star Trek stories but I just noticed today that you had written Shatterstar and Ricter. That is just beyond awesome! Especially because I haven't really been able to find any good fic anywhere. *pout* (Also how cool is it that they are now canon!!!)

Okay crazy fangirlish ramble over... I just wanted to let you know how much I've been enjoying your stories on your web page.

Oh and I bought 'In the Rough' and I really enjoyed the story a lot! (I pretty much suck at leaving useful feedback) The characters were really likable especially because they had their faults and screw-ups and still somehow made things work in the end.

I'm gonna add your journal to keep up with updates, I hope that's okay? ^_^
Sep. 6th, 2009 06:11 am (UTC)
WOO HOO! Caught another one! Um, that is, I mean, welcome! >.> Man, those Shatty and Ric fics were FOREVER ago. Like, seriously, we're talking years. Possibly ten of them. >.< But if you're looking for good fic, hit up... wait, let me see if it still exists... I FOUND IT I FOUND IT! Okay, this is tangeriner's site, and she was THE Ric/Shatty author back when. This site is also years old. Ignore that; it still has some of the best stuff. Start with Tange's and work your way down. ;-D Rictor and Shatterstar. Also, read the bios of bad hair. Because Tange is brilliant. :D There's also an LJ comm, which you can find on my profile 'cause I have it friended. :) No promises about that fic, though: I almost never read it. I think, however, I might have to go back to buying X-Factor because THEY'RE CANON. I love PAD right now. :DDDD

Oh, man, thank you! :D I think ITR is my favorite that I've written so far. I mean, By Degrees was good too, but ITR has a special place in my heart. ;-D You can also watch jennabreen for stuff, but most of that gets crossposted here, anyway. *laughs* Or at least I put notices here when I release new books or whatever. ;)

Feel free to add away! I tend not to friend back unless you respond a lot, because I get a LOT of people adding just to keep track of fic, so... ;) But yes, it's an open journal. *grins* Welcome!

I love your style of writing. I read your work on aff and I have to say that the one that I keep going back to is the "The Kiba/Shino AKA Mark universe".
There is something about that story.... So, I guess my question is: is "To Hold" the last chapter?

P.S. I'm having a blond day, cause for the life of me, I could not figure out how to send a message to you. So, I hope my comment doesn't get lost on the way since I'm dying to know

Thank you

Thank you! Lots of people like the Mark universe; other than The Kakashi Mission, it's probably the one that gets the most attention!

There is another installment coming out, hopefully before February. I'd like to say sooner, but alas, life keeps getting in the way. >.> In the meantime, there's plenty of fic here to read, or you can head over to www.jbmcdonald.com and read my real fiction. *grins*

Re: yayyyyyy
Thank you! :) I'm glad you're here and enjoying!

Feb. 1st, 2011 06:07 am (UTC)
Holy smokes! You're still active! I discovered the Hidden Village site a few years ago and always go back to re-read the stories there (Chuunin & Jounin section being my favorite). I was aware that the site is no longer actively updated and that made me cry on the inside, despite the enjoyment I do get from re-reading the stories. I had no idea that you were still actively writing and didn't think to try to find you until now. Don't ask me why...I'm slow. I'm so thrilled to have found you and know that you're still writing! :D
The 'new'..'current'...? Hidden Village is great and I'm so glad to see new stories and continuations of old stories. The format is a bit different and I'm sort of resistant to change, but I'm glad for it all the same. :D And your personal webpage is very entertaining...even though I don't like birds, but that's only because birds hate me. >.>

Hey there!

It cracks me up that you've been checking the 'Village for so long, but have never come on over here. *laughs!* Though to be fair, you could have been reading OTHER peoples' stories, I suppose. ;)

Not much is happening on the 'Village comm, but if you're looking for a currently-continuing series, I'd HIGHLY recommend Fallen Leaves, and not just because I write in it. ;-D

It's a collaborative writing group, so we each write part of the story from a single character's point of view, and then switch off. (So I write a chunk from Inuzuka Tsume's point of view, then someone else writes a chunk from Kakashi's point of view, and so on.) It's set several years before Naruto starts, and is about the village ANBU, and it's FANTASTIC. (The writing gets more fluid as time goes on, and we all get better at writing like this.) Other than me, Nezuko also writes regularly from Genma, Ginta (an original character) and Ibiki's point of view, and Dark Side of the Storm writes Kakashi, Raidou and Asuma. (Both are 'Village alumni, and Nezu was pretty big back in the day!)

For an early action story (so you don't have to know much, if anything) check out the Genuis and Jackass story (aka, thread), which I had no part in. *laughs* But it has Kakashi! And for an early humor story, try Dog of war Meets the Blood Hound, which is Inuzuka Tsume and Kakashi's first meeting (I write Tsume. :D).

Phew. Okay. I'll stop pimping, now... ;-D But the stories are good, get better as we write longer, and range from humor to smut to action and horror. I hope you enjoy. ;)

Generation: Black Air
Well, I never thought i'd get the chance to say this but, I LOVE YOUR WORK!!! I am an uberfan of your Generation: Black Air series, GUAS stories and Water Lines series.

It's a pity you never finished Generation: Black Air, I've always been keen to see more of that story. That being said, how are things going with the Generation: Talon novelisation that you were replacing the series with?

In anycase you are an awesome writer!!!

Re: Generation: Black Air
Wow, thank you! It's always fun for someone to suddenly crop up... *grins*

I finished Gen: Talon and subbed it various places, collected lots of rejection slips, and finally set it aside. Some day maybe I'll go back to it, but for now I've been publishing het and gay romance novels, and now that my writing has SIGNIFICANTLY improved (and I can see why they didn't want to publish Talon...), I'm working on my first-since-Talon fantasy novel! I'm hoping it'll be done by next week, and then I'll start on the first in a trilogy. My goal is to have something in the racks to be published fantasy-wise by next year (which means finishing a book, getting an agent, and subbing to publishers... it's a big goal, since all of those take time!).

You can find my published stuff at www.jbmcdonald.com, and hopefully soon there'll be a fantasy section! In the meantime, though it isn't X-Men you might like By Degrees and the Dragon series. ;)

hello, I sent an email to you about this post, its not coming thru for me. Can you connect with me when you get a chance.

This is so random it borders on freakish...

I am new (like, "Who is Naruto? Go kill yourself!" new) to the fandom, since I've obviously been sheltered my entire life and am now on a gay porn binge I only discovered my first fandom about a year ago and have since been kind of nervous about branching out. That being said, I was saved by my luuurvely friend and introduced to Kakashi Naruto very recently. I'll not go into detail but Red Bull and five hundred episodes jammed into a mere three days is my personal record now, and having been caught up, I was directed by said friend to your story "The Kakashi Mission."

I may have poked and prodded around your site and then honestly and for truly innocently stumbled across your page here after having fallen in love with your style of writing. I'm not saying I'm going to stalk you, but can I? I promise it'll just be heavy breathing and hang ups, none of the window peeking.

Unless you like that sort of thing.

Hi there!

You're welcome to stalk friend me! I'm not writing all that much fanfic these days, though; I've gotten several novels published, so I'm working on several more! (For THAT scoop, you can check out www.jbmcdonald.com). If you're looking for Kakashi stories I wrote, I'd recommend The Copy Ninja -- it's still one of my favorites. ;)

I'd also suggest joining one of the comms -- you can find loads of them on my profile, because I'm still part of most of them... even though we ignore each other utterly. It's a complex relationship. >.>

Anyway, welcome to the fandom, and good luck!

Feb. 29th, 2012 07:55 pm (UTC)
I'd love to read your novels! I'll definitely poke around a bit on your website, as well as join a few comms.

Thanks so much!!! :)
